A garden zoo in Berlin

3.1.2024 – Photos by Viktor Hinterleitner

I’m sure many of you remember Viktor and Andrea from the ‘Knut aera’ when we had our meetings in Berlin. They’ve had lovely visitors in their garden during the Summer and in the Autumn´. I have now a great pleasure of showing some their photos in this magazine, too.

First there were hedgehogs ….

…. and then a raccoon appeared.

Maybe the hedgies were both surprised and scared meeting the bigger visitor …

…. but very soon they realized there was nothing to be afraid of!

It’s amazing how these animals got so well together sharing the food!

The more the merrier

Even a marten sometimes visited the garden ‘restaurant’.

There are city foxes in Berlin. Maybe they had heard of this wonderful garden, too …

Hey, it looks like I’m not the only restaurant guest here

Simply amazing! No problems sharing the ‘dinner table’!

This beauty came even when there was snow. What a beautiful fur!

  1. Dear Viktor, Andrea and Mervi
A beautiful reminder of why we love animals in these troubled times.
    Happy New Year from England

  2. Lieber Andrea, lieber Viktor!

    Anita

  3. That’s what I call a REAL SCOOP!

    And this in three respects:

    1) The miracle itself and people that are good enough to care about wild animals such they bring together various species and make them even eat together completely peacefully.

    2) Such spectacular photos – by night on top!
Sometimes there were even TWO racoons and two hedgehos and there were even THREE hedgehogs and one raccon to be seen together at the food bowl . . .

    3) To meet people HERE again one had seen ‘ages’ ago for the last time and did never expect to see them or their brilliant photos again one day again, and whom one most propably would not recognize when meeting them in the street somewhere . . .

Of cpurse it was also a pleasure to read your accompanying words to the gorgeous shots, dear Mervi. You must have been more than happy for having got this special opportunity to add Andrea and Victor to your co-authors (at least as the high qualified photographers they are or at least Victor is as to my knowledge . . .).

    Hi ANDREA!
    Hi Victor!

  4. Liebe Andrea und lieber Viktor!
Toll, was sich so in Eurem Garten tummelt: Igel, Waschbären, Marder, Füchse!

dear Mervi, thank you for sharing the pics with us, I can remember very well Viktor, he made often very nice pictures of the Berliner bears, we could watch it in Knutitis
    dear greetings and good wishes

  6. Dear Mervi, dear all, thank you for watching and commenting my latest „zoo photos.“.

Yes indeed, for several years we have many four-legged visitors in our garden. As far as I have counted them there are up to six or seven hedgehogs, four raccoons, three foxe and two martens. It’s a miracle that it is always peaceful and full of harmony. Thank you dear Mervi for publishing my photos. ❤️

I have taken tons of photos and videos, a selection is also to be seen at my instagram account which is public. You are cordially invited to watch them on Instagram.
