Der kleine Königspinguin ist noch nicht ganz soweit. Erst in etwa zwei Wochen ist er mit der Mauser ganz durch und kann dann auch ins Wasser.

Dear Ludmila,
It’s wonderful that you were able to have at least a small get-together with Anke and Thomas for Knut’s birthday visit. The former ‘wild herd’ has become so small, but the advancing age of that group is taking its toll.
It’s touching that even after so many years, flowers are still laid at Knut’s statue on special occasions.

Your tour was very comprehensive and we are all particularly pleased about Fatoo’s good health. Thank you very much for sharing this with us and best regards!

@Anke, I love penguins very much, and now the little fluffy ball can finally swim like all the others. And yes, baby animals grow up just as quickly as human babies.

Dear Ludmila and Uwe!

What nice greetings from Berlin! It’s touching to see the flowers at Knut – he certainly isn’t forgotten.

The Little hippo is ever so cute and so are Leni and Lotti. Fatou is still going strong. What a magnificent lady she is!

Of course, the cats and the penguins are adorable, too.

I hope the brownies will start hibernating although the zoo bears often don’t.

Vielen Dank für Eure tollen Fotos von unserem Rundgang durch den Zoo!
Das dicke Pinguinküken, das ich in meinen letzten “Momentaufnahmen” beschrieben habe, hat inzwischen fast fertig durchgemausert und unterscheidet sich von den großen nur noch durch seinen schwarzen Schnabel (3. von links), sodass ich es nicht erkannte und begann, mir Sorgen zu machen. Zum Glück hatte Thomas den richtigen Gedanken und Herr Zahmel hat ihn später bestätigt. Diese Verwandlung ging schnell! Schade, ich hätte Euch so gerne den dicken Puschel gezeigt, den ich im Oktober noch gesehen habe.
Mein Favorit ist die Flusspferdmama, die ihr Kind vermeintlich zum Fressen gern hat…
