Dear Mervi
It is nice to remember how much fun we had together with the various bears we came to see as our bears through your photos and stories.
Unlike many other animals Polar Bears cannot live their lives in one zoo. This has both a fun and a sad side. Giovanna now has two young ladies to keep her company after Ioghi left us all too soon. Vilma and Lars also left us. New bears have arrived but these friends are not forgotten.

Dear Mervi!
Thank you for republishing the amusing Polar Bears’ Oktoberfest. I also think that this celebration beats the Oktoberfest of two-legged creatures by a long way… Much time has passed since then, and we have suffered many losses among the polar bears. But it’s nice to remember them and the joy they brought us: Vilma, the skilled canister thrower, and Lars and Yoghi, the two unforgettable gentleman bears, whom we remember with love and still miss.
I wish our Fiete a happy, long and healthy life!

Dear Mervi,
The Oktoberfest was legendary, and reminiscing about this wonderful story is always a pleasure!
Unfortunately, we don’t hear from Fiete very often anymore, but hopefully he is enjoying himself in Hungary even without Oktobärfest. Yes, how long has it been since then, and sadly there was no reunion for Vilma at the beautifully renovated Rostock Zoo.
Thank you again for the lovely and funny collages and travelogue from mother and son!

Some nice memories. I remember drinking Paulaner when I was in Munich. It was indeed the end of Fiete and Vilma’s time together, and sadly Vilma did not live long after that. It is fun to think of the bears enjoying their own Oktoberfest, and the collages are just so sweet.

Ich bin zwar als Nordlicht kein besonderer Fan der bajuwarischen Bräuche,
aber die Story und die Collagen sind klasse – es sei den Bayern gegönnt.
Für die Bären war es natürlich ein ganz besonderer Ausflug. Eine schöne
Geschichte aus den “alten” Zeiten des Blogs. Danke fürs zeigen! 🙂
