Flockes Tochter Hope war bis vor kurzem noch in Orsas Predator Center, muss aber wegen der Schließung des Parks umziehen.
Bei all den vielen Eisbären, die wir seit Knut kennengelernt haben, fällt es schwer, die Übersicht zu behalten…

Du bringst da etwas durcheinander. Charlotte ist die Tochter von Vera (früher Nürnberg, jetzt in Hannover) und Felix (jetzt in Leeuwarden). Flockes (YWP) und Rasputins (Tallin) Kinder heißen Hope, Tala, Indiana und Yuma (alle YWP). Genaueres erfährst Du auf Ullijs Eisbaeren Seite.

My last visit with Katjuscha in Zoo Berlin she was still taking the green plants from the side of her enclosure.

Dear Rebecca, dear Mervi !
It doesn’t necessarily take expensive toys to keep a polar bear happy and busy in the zoo. Creative and attentive keepers who know and love their animals always come up with something. Here it’s a branch with edible leaves that other animals would also appreciate…
I, too, have fond memories of Knut’s ingenuity, who knew what to do with almost everything.

Dear Mervi,

It doesn’t matter whether the leaves are edible or taste good, they certainly offer a nice change to Charlotte’s activities, and that’s the main thing. Besides, polar bears are very curious and inventive and like to try new things.
Just remember what Knut did with the little board back then – surfing, diving, loving, nibbling and fighting with Giovanna over it. Those were such beautiful scenes – long, long ago, but unforgettable.

Rebecca, the photos are great and Mervi your texts as always, of course.

egal, ob die Blätter essbar sind oder schmecken, auf jeden Fall bieten sie eine schöne Abwechslung zu Charlottes Beschäftigung, und das ist die Hauptsache. Außerdem sind Eisbären sehr neugierig und erfinderisch und probieren gerne etwas Neues aus.
Man erinnere sich nur daran, was Knut damals alles mit dem kleinen Brett gemacht hat – surfen, tauchen, liebhalten, knabbern und mit Giovanna darum streiten. Das waren so schöne Szenen – lang, lang it´s her, aber unvergessen.

Rebecca, die Fotos sind toll und Mervi deine Texte wie immer natürlich auch.
