that was a magical year with Knut as a growing bear teenager and his loving foster father Thomas Dörflein!

Each of these photos and scenes are part of our shared memory of this beloved dream team and will remain unforgotten. Unfortunately, Knuti had to spend all his days at the enclosure far too early and often soothed his loneliness with intensive sucking on his paws. But he also learnt how to communicate with his fans and to engage with every little object in the enclosure.
And because it was such a magical time, we are still connected today, 14 years after Knut’s sudden and tragic death, in this community here on your blog. What other animal could claim that?

These are very sweet photos by Gudrun of little chubby Knut.
It feels strange and unreal that we only had Knut for four years and that we have now been without him for 14 years. The memories of him and of that time are still very vivid!
It is terrible and painful that we have lost him, but so wonderful that he existed! Everyone who knew and experienced him will never forget him.
