Peaceful days in Karlsruhe Zoo

24.9.2024 – Photos by Rebecca

There are no special news from the Karlsruhe Zoo but Rebecca shows in her photos that both Nuka and Kap are doing fine.

Kap enjoyed a swimming tour …

… and after the wet activities it was time for a walk in the enclosure.

It’s been a hot Summer but now Kap is sniffing the air ….

…. and smelled the first signs of the Autumn.

The grass is still very green but the air feels Autumn like.

Polar bears don’t hibernate like the brownies but even they slow down under the Autumn/Winter season. Kap knows that and has already started the slow-down season.

Nuka is just chilling …

… and observing the visitors.

Sometimes she likes to play with a twig.

A nice lettuce made her more active.

Even eating is an activity!!

nuka3

Oh bear, have I some lettuce between my teeth?

nuka6

Better now?

nuka4

Dear Nuka, you look very presentable and beautiful!

Kap: Bye bye! I’m going to have a nap now!

  1. Dear Rebecca and Mervi!
You can clearly see how well the polar bears are doing in Karlsruhe. Both are round, healthy and have beautiful fur and are already well prepared for the coming winter.
I’m especially happy for Kap, who was so frighteningly thin in Hamburg. To be honest, I hope that Nuka is NOT pregnant yet and that Kap doesn’t have to travel again straight away…
Thank you for the pleasant update!

    Hugs
    Anke
